Record label, Materia Collective have announced a rare release of their next album based on a videogame property, Rare Treats: Viva Piñata Revisited (Original Soundtrack).

The album will feature iconic tunes from the Xbox-exclusive franchise, Viva Piñata recomposed, arranged, and produced by Rare veteran, Grant Kirkhop, and is now available for streaming as well as a 2xLP vinyl available to pre-order from the Materia Store.

The tracks will include reimagined and enhanced scores crafted by Grant Kirkhope and performed by The City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra, pressed on a confetti vinyl as a celebration and reflection of the title’s colourful aesthetics and various animals you meet from Piñata Island.

“Working on Viva Piñata was one of my favourite projects,” Grant Kirkhope said via press release.

“It was the first time that I got to use live orchestra, and I really didn’t know what to expect,”

“I think I shed a tear after the first few notes of ‘Island Welcome,’ it was fantastic to hear my music being played by real people, they bring it all to life in a way that only humans can.

“I’m so pleased to be able to bring this score back, recorded with the same orchestra in the same studio that I originally did it. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have revisiting it.”

The vinyl cover highlights the works of the lead designer of the series, Justin Cook and the creative world which inspired the score, topped off by the album artworks done by one of the original artists for the first game, Steve Mayles.

Viva Piñata released in 2006 as a launch title for the Xbox 360, developed by Rare and published by Microsoft which sold over half a million copies on the console.

The title and its console-based sequel, Viva Piñata: Trouble in Paradise was added to the Rare anthology released on the Xbox One, Rare Replay.

Rare Treats: Viva Piñata Revisited (Original Soundtrack) is now streaming here and the 2xLP vinyl available to pre-order at the Materia Store.
