Developer Alawar announced this week their upcoming gas station simulator, The Last Gas Station, is launching its first playtest now, available on Steam.

The narrative-driven game filled with anthropomorphic characters has you become the new manager of a remote gas station in the middle of the woods, left abandoned after the previous owner vanished without a trace.

As electric vehicles have made petrol obsolete, you must transform the derelict business into a thriving convenience store as well as still pump fuel for drivers who haven’t made the change just yet.

The gameplay has you stock shelves with a variety of goods, maintain the fuel pumps and customise the station’s interior and exterior to make it look brand new, but remember, as the sun falls on your cosy station, you will soon discover what took the owner.

The night holds strange things which stalk the surrounding area, forcing you to lock all the doors and stay inside, with some of the wilderness’s inhabitants remembering you.

Alawar have been developing videogames since 1999, creating causal titles like the Beholder series, Do Not Feed the MonkeysKarate SurvivorNecrosmith, and Wall World.

If you are interested in playing The Last Gas Station before its full release, play it by downloading the game from its Steam page, or wishlist it and stay tuned for upcoming developer updates by following Alawar on Twitter and joining the Discord for the latest updates.
